About the Association

The European Golf Industry Association is a trade association which operates on behalf of manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers of golf equipment.

background
At a meeting of major golf brands held in the UK in March 2001 it was agreed that it would be of benefit to form an alliance of golf trade organisations to unite the industry throughout Europe. As a result of that meeting, representatives of the British, Dutch, German and Swedish associations met at the 2001 Open Championship in Lytham St. Annes to discuss the proposed structure, aims and objectives of such an alliance. This document is intended to formalise those discussions and define the activities and financial arrangements of the organisation to be known as the European Golf Industry Association.

Structure
Each member association will nominate two people to represent that organisation at EGIA Board Meetings. The EGIA will not take any part in selecting those representatives, but it is recommended that no company should have more than one board member at any one time. Where there is no representative national trade association, the EGIA will offer Associate membership to individual companies for an annual fee. The EGIA will have an elected Chairman who will serve for a period of 2 years. The EGIA will hold three meetings per year - two Board Meetings and one General Meeting. It is recommended that one Board Meeting takes place at the Open Championship each July and that the General Meeting takes place at Golf Europe in Munich each October. An appropriate venue is sought for the second Board Meeting.
